Maintaining a high level of safety is essential for the proper conduct of air operations. The role of airport security is mainly to prevent unauthorized people and vehicles from accessing reserved areas, while customs services control the transit of goods. The National Airport Authority (AAN) is in charge of safety/security at all airports in the country. To this end, an AAN team is dedicated to the implementation of security measures to avoid any unauthorized intrusion into a reserved area, also to prevent any malicious act. The AAN security service thus carries out access control via different inspection and filtering stations: 1- Employee filtering inspection, 2- Passenger filtering inspection, 3- Inspection filtering of road accesses. The AAN security teams also position themselves along passenger routes to prevent them from entering an unauthorized area.

The main mission of the Fire Protection and Rescue Corps (CPIS) is to ensure the safety of people in the event of an accident within the airport and up to a radius of 8 km in the event of an air accident outside the airport right-of-way. The CPIS must also respond to any incident during the refuelling of aircraft in particular. The CPIS station is located near the domestic parking area and is permanently home to well-equipped firefighters on the runway of the international terminal who take turns in three guard laps. Thus, the fire protection and rescue service of the terminal is provided 24 hours a day.

The immigration service ensures control of people wishing to access and leave Haitian territory. The service is available from the first flight to the last flight of the day. Immigration services checks on passengers are carried out during the journey of departure and arrival passengers.

Haitian customs services act at the airport from three activities: 1- The control of goods brought by passengers 2- Air boarding and sembarcation 3- The receipt of goods from abroad The customs service is operational during the airport's opening hours: The control of the goods transported by international passengers is carried out directly after the baggage delivery room on the ground floor of the international terminal. Air boarding, bonding, and receipt of goods: all this is accomplished in the form of "flying" customs directly in the bonded stores. Thus, a team of customs officers is present when a cargo operator disembarks goods from abroad and/or embarks goods to foreign countries.

The police provide a "classic" service to combat illegal acts and, at the same time, the monitoring of the airport perimeter. To do this, the Police services carry out regular patrols on the airport right-of-way to control the different users. This police service focuses not only on airport activities in Port-au-Prince, but also on public order maintenance missions around the airport site. Two sub-police stations are located in front of the international terminal. One occasionally carries out airport security missions, in addition to the dedicated service set up by the National Airport Authority, while the other generally called a tourist police station serves as a guide for passengers and especially tourists in transit through the country.

In order to help passengers and employees, the administration has created a first aid service at the airport in the arrival area, equipped with orthopedic beds and chairs. This service is available from the first to the last flight.
